AMX

The AM-X is a joint Italian-Brazilian programme in which three aircraft manufacturers have pooled their design, development and production resources. Alenia Aeronautica, Aermacchi and Embraer have shares in the program amounting to 46.5%, 23.8% and 29.7% respectively.

These companies have produced a total of six prototypes, four operating in Italy and two in Brazil. The aircraft is now in full production both in Italy and Brazil. The production phase involves assembly lines in Italy and Brazil, the three partner companies maintain the same production responsabilities as in the design and development phase.

AMX WEFT Description

WingsHigh-mounted, swept-back, and tapered with square tips (AAMs usually mounted).

Engine(s)One turbofan inside body. Two air intakes forward of the wing roots. Single exhaust.

FuselagePointed nose and bubble canopy. Body widens at the air intakes and tapers to the rear section.

TailFlats mid-mounted on fuselage, swept-back, and tapered with blunt tips. Swept-back and tapered fin with a blunt tip.
