Special Operations

special operations Special OperationsThere is no general agreement on what does or does not constitute special operations.

The United States maintains the Special Operations Command (SOCOM), the U.S. Army Rangers, the U.S. Army Airborne, Special Forces, Delta Force, the U.S. Navy Seals, and the United States Marines. Britain has the Special Air Service (SAS), Germany the GS-9, Russia the Spetsnaz, and Israel the Isayeret.

The role of special operations is constantly changing. After being nearly disbanded after WWII, special operations have proven themselves to be a vital requirement for national defense.
